Marina Inoue, Katsuyuki Konishi Reunite for Skip Beat! Drama CDs

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Lead Skip Beat! voice actors Marina Inoue and Katsuyuki Konishi reunited as their roles in a new drama CD bundled with the manga's limited edition 44th volume on Friday. The drama CD covers the "Kitchen Words" story from the 2016 Skip Beat! novel. The short story was written by Ayuna Fujisaki and covered Kyōko's (Inoue) guest appearance on a cooking program.

The drama CD also includes a "Newlywed Version" track where Ren Tsuruga (Konishi) whispers directly to the listener. The track was recorded using a dummy head microphone.

This year's 20th issue of Hana to Yume, also released on Friday, includes another Skip Beat! drama CD. Like the CD included with volume 44, the Hana to Yume Drama CD also re-enacts stories from Skip Beat! novel. The CD includes "Otherworld With Love" and "Until You Sleep," the latter telling the story of Kyōko becoming possessed by a ghost. A discussion with cast members Inoue, Konishi, and Shun Takagi (Reino in the drama CDs and game).

Fans can find interviews with Inoue and Konishi in The Hana to Yume issue.

Right Stuf released the Skip Beat! anime series on Blu-ray last year after Pied Piper, Inc. funded the English version of Skip Beat! with a Kickstarter campaign in 2016. Right Stuf describes the story:

Welcome to Skip Beat!, the story of humble 16-year- old Kyoko Mogami unleashing her true talents as a powerhouse actress. She's passionate, wacky, vulnerable, and bold – sometimes all in the same scene. These 25 riveting episodes are as fun and unpredictable as Kyoko Mogami herself. She is alternately inspired and frustrated by the guys in her life, but ultimately she strives to achieve her own dreams of making it in showbiz.

The television version of Yoshiki Nakamura's Skip Beat! shōjo manga premiered in Japan in October 2008. The series is available streaming on Crunchyroll. Viz Media publishes the original manga in North America.
