Be Prepared With Boy Scouts of Japan's Pokémon Trainer Program

The Pokémon franchise and Boy Scouts of Japan announced a partnership for the new "Aim to Be a Pokémon Trainer!" program on June 13. The program will run in all 47 prefectures of Japan from next month until June 2026. Participants must be around 10 years old and do not have to be members of the Boy Scouts.

(The program's name is an apparent callback to the franchise's first Japanese opening theme song, "Mezase Pokémon Master" or "Aim to Be a Pokémon Master.")

There will be six missions titled (roughly translated) “Hungry! Operation: Berries,” “The Wind's Up to No Good! Get Back on the Path!,” “Big Search in Rustling Fallen Leaves!,” “What Do We Do? Pokémon Stuck on a Cliff,” “Where Are They? Pokémon Expedition!,” and “Let's Go on a Pokémon Rescue Mission!” Each mission will have participants doing activities such as foraging for berries, making a path in the wilderness, finding a hammer buried in leaves, rescuing Pokémon stuck on a cliff, searching for lost Pokémon, and treating injuries.
