Nintendo announced Fire Emblem Heroes, its first Fire Emblem game for smart devices, during its Nintendo Direct presentation on Wednesday. The game is slated for February 2 on Android and "soon" for iPhone and iPad.

In the game, players take on the role of a summoner that can summon heroes from previous Fire Emblem games. The characters will have new illustrations from a variety of artists and newly recorded voice-overs.
Like the main games in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Heroes will feature tactical battles where the player commands an army. In addition to the main quest, the game will offer a training mode for leveling up the characters.
Nintendo is hosting a "Choose Your Legends" campaign where players can vote for their favorite hero. The topped-ranked hero and heroine will get special versions in the game, and participants will receive a My Nintendo Platinum Point bonus.
Nintendo had announced last April that it was planning a Fire Emblem app game for fall 2016. Nintendo revealed at the time that it planned to make the game more accessible compared to previous Fire Emblem games.
