This year's September issue of Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum magazine announced on Friday that Shinobu Takayama's Amatsuki manga will end in the next issue on August 28.
The manga launched in 2005 and inspired an anime adaptation in 2008. The 23rd compiled volume shipped last month and announced that the 24th volume will be the last. The 24th volume is slated for this winter.
The story follows Japanese high school student Rikugō Tokidoki, who fails a history test. To study up, he goes to a museum which lets him use virtual reality to simulate being in the Edo period. However, he is attacked by a strange creature, loses sight in one eye, and realizes he is no longer wearing his VR goggles — he is trapped in the virtual reality version of Edo.
