posted on by Egan Loo
Riko Kohara, Sora Tokui star in Tatekayoko's story set in Gifu Prefecture

A television anime adaptation of Tatekayoko's four-panel manga Gifu no Tatekayoko will premiere on Thursday, April 4 at 9:54 p.m. within the Animal Gekijō program on Tokyo MX. (It will then premiere on TV Aichi on April 8.) The weekly series revolves around life in Gifu Prefecture in central Japan — as seen through the eyes of Tatekayoko, a female inhabitant who speaks in the dialect of Gifu's Tōnō region.

The cast stars:

Riko Kohara, a Gifu native herself, as Tatekayoko

Sora Tokui as Neko no Miiche (Miiche the Cat)

Takafumi Maeuchi as Gyūnyū Onna (Milk Woman)

Iori Saeki as Gero Kaeru no Yatarō (Yatarō the Gero Frog)

Saki Ono as Usa-Ballerina no Rin-chan (Rin-chan the Rabbit-Ballerina)

Mari Takahashi as Ichigo-nyan (Strawberry-kitty)

Tsubasa Sasa as An-nyan (Bean Paste-kitty)

Maria Tanijiri as Mitarashi-nyan (Rice Dumpling-kitty)

Tatekayoko and MMDGP are credited with the original story, and Tatekayoko is also credited for the original character designs. Hiroshi Namiki is directing the animation at Kachidoki Studio. Naoki Yoshimura is directing the sound at Object.

Tatekayoko has been serializing her manga on Shufu to Seikatsu Sha's Pachikuri website since March 13.
