Catch Anime Action on meWATCH with Mediacorp and Medialink Group Linkup

Singapore, 9 April 2021 – “Dreams can become reality,” says Midoriya Izuku, the lead character of popular anime series My Hero Academia. Indeed, the dreams of anime lovers have come true as they can now catch My Hero Academia and other Japanese animation titles for free on meWATCH!

In partnership with regional content distributor Medialink Group, MediaCorp will progressively release more than 40 titles comprising 800 episodes from Medialink Group's Ani-One anime library on meWATCH from today.

Anime fans can look forward to the premiere of To Your Eternity, an epic fantasy saga of an immortal hero's quest to understand what it is like to live on earth. This highly anticipated series will be available on meWATCH on 13 April, just a day after its release in Japan. Fans can also be right in the heart of the action with same-day episodic releases for the much-raved about Burning Kabaddi and season 5 of My Hero Academia. There is something for everyone, with titles across anime genres, from the supernatural series JUJUTSU KAISEN, to sci-fi comedy Dr. Stone and the dark fantasy series OVERLORD.

All anime titles will be in their original Japanese audio and fully captioned with English and Chinese subtitles. Please refer to Annex A for synopses of the abovementioned titles.

Annex A: Synopses of selected titles

My Hero Academia

(Seasons 1-5)

Midoriya Izuku was just a regular middle school student in a world where people with superpowers known as Quirks were the norm. However, he dreamt of one day becoming a Hero, despite being bullied by his classmates for not having a Quirk. Things changed after he saved his childhood friend Katsuki from a Villain. All Might, the world's greatest Hero transferred his own quirk, One For All, to Midoriya. The story follows Midoriya's entrance into Yuuei High School, a Hero Academy that trains their students to become heroes.

Burning Kabaddi

First-year high schooler Tatsuya Yoigoshi, the former ace of a junior high school soccer team who has come to dislike sports, receives an invitation to join the Kabaddi club. Although he initially mocked the idea of joining Kabaddi, he soon started taking an interest after witnessing a practice session that was akin to watching martial arts.

To Your Eternity

The story follows an immortal being, known only as “It”, that was sent to earth.

“It” can do two things: change into the form of the thing that stimulates “it”; and come back to life after death. Starting off as an orb, “It” uses its abilities to morph into a rock, then a wolf, and finally a boy. With its new-found consciousness, “It” sets off on a journey to find new experiences, people and places.

After a series of events, “It” meets a young girl named March, who gives him the name FUSHI. Through encounters with human kindness, FUSHI not only gains survival skills, but also grows as a “person”. But his journey is darkened by the inexplicable and destructive enemy NOKKER, as well as cruel partings with the people he loves. Despite this, FUSHI continues his eternal quest, bearing the pain of living with the fortitude of someone who chooses his own path.

JUJUTSU KAISEN

Yuji Itadori is an average high school student with an above-average physique. When he meets the Jujutsu Sorcerer known as Megumi Fushiguro and devours a mysterious finger, he is pulled into the strange and dangerous world of curses...

Dr. Stone

(Seasons 1-2)

After a mysterious flash 3,700 years ago petrified nearly all human life, Senkuu, a 15-year-old genius, makes it his goal to bring back two million years of human achievement and revive the bodies of those who had been turned into statues. However, one man stands in his way: Tsukasa Shishiou, who believes that only the fittest of those petrified should be revived.

As the snow melts and spring approaches, Senkuu and his allies in Ishigami Village finish the preparations for their attack on the Tsukasa Empire. With a reinvented cell phone model now at their disposal, the Kingdom of Science is ready to launch its newest scheme to recruit the sizable numbers of Tsukasa's army to their side. However, it is a race against time, for every day that the Kingdom of Science spends perfecting their inventions, the empire rapidly grows in number.

Reuniting with old friends and gaining new allies, Senkuu and the Kingdom of Science must stop Tsukasa's forces in order to fulfill their goal of restoring humanity and all its creations. With the two sides each in pursuit of their ideal world, the Stone Wars have now begun!

OVERLORD

(Seasons 1-3)

The final hour of the popular virtual reality game Yggdrasil has come. However, Momonga, a powerful wizard and master of the dark guild, Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to spend his last few moments in the game as the servers begin to shut down. To his surprise, despite the clock having struck midnight, Momonga is still fully conscious as his character and even the non-player characters appear to have developed personalities of their own!

Confronted with this abnormal situation, Momonga commands his loyal servants to help him investigate and take control of this new world in the hope of figuring out what has caused this development and if there may be others in the same predicament.
