Japanese VR Game Developer MyDearest Closes $8.2 Million Series B Funding

TOKYO - June 30, 2021 - MyDearest Inc. (“MyDearest”), a virtual reality game developer in Japan specializing on story-driven adventures, announced the closing of its $8.2 million Series B funding today. The investment is led by Globis Capital Partners, one of Japan's leading venture capital firms, and is joined by DBJ Capital and DG Daiwa Ventures. Existing investments from SMBC Venture Capital and Monex Ventures bring total funding to date to US $11.1 million. This round of funding will enable MyDearest to expand its team, bringing deeper and richer adventures to gamers, and to develop an online community for fans of their games.

MyDearest's VR adventure titles Tokyo Chronos and Altdeus: Beyond Chronos both feature vast storylines with playtimes of 15-25 hours each, standing as some of the largest stories told in VR. Tokyo Chronos was chosen out of over 1,000 apps for inclusion in the Oculus Go Store's Oculus Essentials selection, while Altdeus has become the highest-rated app on the Oculus Quest Store for two months in a row, as well as receiving Famitsu Magazine's 2020 Adventure Game of the Year Award.
