Rie Kugimiya Added to Baby, Please Kill Me! Cast

J.C. Staff's anime adaptation of Kaduho's manga to premiere in January

The January issue of Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine revealed on Monday that voice actress Rie Kugimiya (Toradora!'s Taiga Aisaka, Fullmetal Alchemist's Alphonse Elric, Shakugan no Shana's Shana) has been added to the cast of the television anime adaptation of Kaduho's Baby, Please Kill Me! (Kill Me Baby) manga. Kugimiya will play an "unused" character from the manga (pictured at right). The magazine did not reveal the name of Kugimiya's character.

Other cast members in the anime include Mutsumi Tamura as Sonya, the assassin girl who happens to attend an ordinary school; Ai Takabe as Agiri Goshiki, a ninja in Sonya's organization; and Chinatsu Akasaki as Yasuna Oribe, a fearless yet not-so-smart girl and a self-described "friend" of Sonya. Tamura and Akasaki will also sing the anime's opening and ending theme songs.

The four-panel slice-of-life comedy manga series launched in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine in 2008, after the magazine ran a one-shot early version of the story. Yoshiki Yamakawa (Hatsukoi Limited) is directing the anime at J.C. Staff (A Certain Magical Index, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, Nodame Cantabile), and Hideki Shirane of Dream Eater Merry and Aria the Scarlet Ammo are in charge of the scripts. Character designs are being handled by Shinya Hasegawa (Sailor Moon, Ikki Tousen, Otome Yōkai Zakuro).

The anime will premiere in Japan this January.
