The anime studio Gonzo is producing a television anime adaptation of the Gree mobile social game Zettai Bōei Leviathan (Absolute Defense Leviathan) for an April 6 premiere. The game is a role-playing game set on Aquafall, a fantasy world abound with water and greenery, and populated by dragons and fairies.

Meteorites suddenly bring forth evil creatures that threaten all living things on the planet. The fairy Syrup (voiced by Kana Hanazawa) assembles the Aquafall Defence Force, with three girls of the dragon clans as recruits. The story follows Syrup and the dragon girls Leviathan (Saori Hayami), Bahamut (Eri Kitamura), and Jörmungandr (Ayana Taketatsu) as they work together to battle enemies and grow up.

Kenichi Yatani (Dojin Work, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki, Renkin 3-kyuu Magical? Pokahn) is directing off scripts supervised by Yasunori Ide (Hanaukyo Maid-tai, Renkin 3-kyuu Magical? Pokahn). Takaharu Ōkuma (Hanaukyo Maid-tai, Kotoura-san, Magician's Academy, Mitsudomoe) is designing the characters, and Tomoki Kikuya (Hidamari Sketch, Squid Girl) and Shiho Terada (Inazuma Eleven GO) are composing the music. Yuki Kanno is performing the opening theme song "Hajimari no Resolution," while PASSPO performs the ending theme "Truly."

With its bishōjo characters, Gree's foray into moe social games is aimed at young males as its core target audience. The anime will air on TV Tokyo every Saturday at 11:30 p.m., as well as on other stations. The game itself is planned for a spring debut on smartphones running iOS and Android operating systems.

Update: Two other GREE titles, the popular Driland fantasy game and the creature-raising game Odoriko Clinoppe, also inspired television anime. Yahoo! Japan subsidiary GyaO! and GREE announced last month that they agreed to set up a fund and establish an investment management company for anime media content.
