Update: Shōji Kawamori, Satelight's TV comedy about animal-transforming girls

Update: The Mycom Journal website has corroborated the article in Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine about Anyamaru Tantei Kiruminzū, the new original anime from Shōji Kawamori (Macross, Escaflowne, Basquash!), with more details and images on Monday. The "heartwarming comedy" story poses the following premise: "What if you can really transform into an animal?" Riko, Rimu and Nagisa Mikogami are three cute sisters who live in Kamihama, a Japanese city abundant with natural wonders. On an otherwise peaceful day, the three come across a mysterious Kirumin compact in an attic. With the Kirumin, these character-costume-wearing girls can transform into real animals. The anime's title is an apparent wordplay on "animal," "tantei" (detective), "kigurumi," and "zoo." "Kigurumi" is a type of cosplay that essentially turns a wearer into a giant plush toy or doll.

Scrapped Princess director Sōichi Masui and the Satelight, Hal Film Maker, and JM Animation studios will debut the anime on television in October. Hal Film Maker animator Sumie Aizawa (Kemeko-DX episode animation director) is designing the characters, while Yōsuke Yūki and Eriko Matsuda (Itazura na Kiss scriptwriter) are supervising the scripts. Starchild Records' booth at next weekend's Comic Market 76 event in Tokyo will screen footage from the anime. The same footage will be posted on the anime's page on Starchild's website on Friday.
