Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Visual Novel Gets TV Anime (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo
Anime series of Navel visual novel with Shuffle! designer Aoi Nishimata to debut in April

Navel's Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa NaiUnder the Innocent Sky visual novel will spawn a television anime series next April. The original software follows the coming-of-age drama of young people in Yanagihara, a big city where countless people cross paths.

Shinji Ushiro (Blessing of the Campanella, Omamori Himari, Strait Jacket) is directing the anime at the studio Nomad, and Takamitsu Kouno (Ayakashi, Kyo no Gononi, Lamune) is supervising the scripts. Kumi Ishii (Ichigo 100%, Kure-nai, Rozen Maiden) is adapting the software's original character designs by Aoi Nishimata (Final Approach, Lovedol ~Lovely Idol~, Shuffle!) and overseeing the animation process.

The anime will retain the voice cast from the drama CD version of the story, as opposed to the cast in the original software:

Asuka Watarai: Mayumi Yoshida
Hiyoko Tamaizumi: Ryōko Ono
Naru Ōtori: Yuko Goto
Kobato Haneda: Ai Matayoshi
Eriko Hino: Kiyomi Asai
Kinako Mochizuki: Chiaki Takahashi

The original software shipped for Windows computers in January of 2009, after a Prelude prologue shipped in June of 2008. An After Story follow-up has since been released this past July.

Marvelous Entertainment will host the official website.

Update: More background information added.

Update 2: The January issue of Gakken's Megami Magazine is reporting on Tuesday that its readers can submit designs for the panties of Asuka and the other anime characters. The winning entries will be used in the actual anime, and the designers will be listed as part of the staff in ending credits. (The runners-up will receive prizes.) [Via Livedoor, Uri-Sure Matome R]

Although the listed credits are different, the cast is not necessarily different between the software and the anime. Thanks, Cloud668 and EmperorBrandon.
