A trailer for Hyō-ka: You can't escape was posted on Friday on the website for Kyoto Animation's anime adaptation of Honobu Yonezawa's Hyōka novel. The three-minute video introduces the various main characters in the teen mystery. The series will begin airing on April 22.
The story follows a boy named Hōtarō (played by Yūichi Nakamura) who is not assertive about getting involved, but was ordered by his older sister to join the classic literature club (kotenbu). In the club, he gets close to the truth about an incident, involving a female member's uncle, which happened 33 years ago. The "energy-saving" boy is joined by an inquisitive girl in the mystery series.
Shoji Gatoh, the author and scriptwriter best known for the Full Metal Panic! light novel series, is in charge of the series scripts. Yasuhiro Takemoto is directing the series after having done the same for The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya and several Full Metal Panic! projects. Kouhei Tanaka (Gate Keepers, Gunbuster, Sakura Wars) is composing the music. Futoshi Nishiya (Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya, My Ordinary Life/Nichijō) is designing the characters.
