NIS America Adds Umineko: When They Cry Mystery Anime (Update 2)

NIS America (NISA), the American subsidiary of the Nippon Ichi Software game company, announced at its Otakon panel on Saturday that it will release the Umineko - When They Cry (Umineko no Naku Koro ni) television anime series in two Premium Edition volumes on Blu-ray Disc in December.
The series adapts Ryukishi07/07th Expansion's mystery suspense dōjin game from the popular When they Cry (Naku no Koro ni) multimedia franchise. In the story, 18 people step foot on the remote island of Rokkenjima in October of 1986, when a spate of murders takes place.
Director Chiaki Kon (Hanasakeru Seishōnen, Nodame Cantabile: Paris and Finale) and series script supervisor Toshifumi Kawase (Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing) reprised their respective roles from the previous When They Cry - Higurashi projects at Studio DEEN. Yōko Kikuchi (Noir) designed the characters. The cast includes Daisuke Ono as Battler Ushiromiya, Marina Inoue as Jessica Ushiromiya, Sayaka Ōhara as Beatrice, and Yui Horie as Maria Ushiromiya. The 26-episode series originally aired in 2009.
Yen Press announced in April that it will release the manga adaptation in omnibus editions.
