Staff, cast return for "carefree enjoyable" series featuring Plasmagica, ShinganCrimsonz, more

The official website for the Show By Rock!! anime franchise revealed on Friday that Show By Rock!! Short!!, a new short anime series, will premiere on Tokyo MX in July. The website also revealed the show's returning staff and cast, as well as a key visual (pictured below).

The anime will center on the band members of Plasmagica, ShinganCrimsonz, and other bands from the original anime series. Each episode will introduce and feature a different band. The anime will be a "carefree enjoyable" series that shares the worldview of the original TV anime series.

The show's returning cast includes:

Eri Inagawa as Cyan
Sumire Uesaka as Chuchu
Manami Numakura as Retoree
Ayane Sakura as Moa
Kishô Taniyama as Crow
Kouki Uchiyama as Aeon
Tetsuya Kakihara as Yaiba

Takahiro Ikezoe is returning from the original series to again direct Show By Rock!! Short!! at BONES. Touko Machida, who wrote the scripts for the first eight episodes of the original anime, is handling the series composition. Geechs is credited with production cooperation.

The website also began streaming a promotional video for Plasmagica on Friday, which introduces the band members. The website will reveal a new promotional video each month for a band that will appear in the full second season of the anime series.

A video game news website had briefly listed that the anime's second season would air in April, but the official website for the anime now states that Show By Rock!! Short!! will air first before the sequel series.

Sanrio began distributing the Show By Rock!! game developed by geechs for iOS and Android in 2012. The game is free to play, but has in-game items that can be purchased. The game inspired a 12-episode television anime series that premiered in April 2015, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired with both English subtitles and an English dub.

The game is also inspiring a musical in February that will feature the franchise's Shingan Crimsonz four-member visual kei band as the main characters.
