Live-Action Blood-C Film's Teaser Video Reveals August 26 Premiere

Shutaro Oku directs adaptation of CLAMP, Production I.G's anime

The official website for Asura Girl ~Blood-C Ibun~ (Asura Girl: Blood-C Another Story), the live-action film adaptation of CLAMP and Production I.G's Blood-C anime series, began streaming its first 30-second teaser video on Saturday. The video reveals that the film will open in Japanese theaters on August 26.

The film will feature a completely new story set in the military regime of pre-World War II Japan, and will follow a bloody conflict that erupts between villagers and Japan's Special Higher Police forces.

The announced cast includes:

Shutaro Oku (Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena stage plays) is directing the film, while Jun'ichi Fujisaku is writing the scripts. Oku previously directed the 2015 Blood-C: The Last Mind stage play, while Fujisaku wrote the scripts for the 2011 television anime and the stage play adaptation. Sennosuke Okumura is producing the film, and Kentarō Nakao is composing the music.

Manga creator team CLAMP developed the story and original character designs for both the 2011 Blood-C television series and the sequel film, titled Blood-C: The Last Dark. Production I.G animated both projects. The sequel film premiered in Japan in June 2012. Funimation has licensed and released both the television series and film in North America.

Ranmaru Kotone published a manga adaptation of the series in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine from May 2011 to August 2012. Dark Horse Comics is releasing the manga in English. Dark Horse Comics is also releasing Ryo Haduki's Blood-C: Demonic Moonlight prequel manga.
