New York Comic-Con 2011
The Anime Network Panel

by Todd Ciolek,

There were no industry-shaking announcements at The Anime Network's New York Comic-Con panel. Instead, the Network expanded on several previous licenses and its plans for releasing them through online streaming and video-on-demand cable.

Broken Blade, a six-part series by Macross 7 director Tetsuro Amino, will air in dubbed form on The Anime Network in January 2012. The broadcast will include behind-the-scenes footage with the production's voice cast. Based on a manga series by Yunosuke Yoshinaga, Broken Blade (originally titled Break Blade) is set in a world called Cruzon, where certain people have the ability to control quartz. Some are adept enough to pilot massive battle-mecha called Golems—and youngster Rygart Arrow is one such pilot. DVD and Blu-Ray releases will follow later in 2012.

The Anime Network also plans to air the dubbed version of its recent, nigh-unpronounceable series Towa no Quon in 2012, along with a dubbed Princess Resurrection.
