AMVs, or Anime Music Videos, are fan-produced creations made by setting anime clips to music. While most often made for fun, anime conventions have made AMVs into a very competitive part of their programs receiving several hundred entries every year. There really are no rules to making an AMV just as long as the majority of the video comes from anime and the majority of the audio is music. However each convention has its own set of rules. Also related is the Game Music Video or GMV. Similar to an AMV a GMV uses game footage (often the cutscenes) set to music to make a video.
