Metal Gear Solid V's E3 Gameplay Trailer Streamed

posted on by Karen Ressler
Latest game in franchise to also ship on Xbox One in addition to PS3, Xbox 360

Gaming news site IGN began streaming the E3 story and gameplay trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that Microsoft previously unveiled at its media briefing on Monday. The trailer confirms that the game will be available for Xbox One. The game will feature new stealth options, real-time weather, new vehicles to use, a realistic passage of time, and more close-quarters combat. The clip featured Snake (named Punished Snake) sneaking around in Afghanistan and rescuing a comrade. The trailer also revealed the following new characters: Code Talker, Eli, Skull Face and Quiet, as well as returning characters Emmerich, Ocelot, and Kazuhira Miller.

Kiefer Sutherland will play the role of Snake in the game produced and directed by Hideo Kojima. Yoji Shinkawa will serve as character and mechanical designer, Hideki Sasaki as CG art director, Junji Tago as technical director, and Masayuki Suzuki as lighting artist. The trailer features the song "Sins of the Father," composed by Akihiro Honda with vocals performed by Donna Burke.

Metal Gear Solid V is a combination of two games: The Phantom Pain, and Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes. The game features Snake after he wakes up from a nine-year coma. Snake has lost a lot of his abilities, and must crawl through a hospital to escape. After Snake escapes from the hospital in the game, he can then walk around the game's world openly. The game will use Kojima Productions' new Fox Engine.

Konami will also release Metal Gear Solid V on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Update: Character names switched. Thanks, KutovoiAnton and Jonny2x4.
