Character Attends Own Funeral in Hero Must Die Commercial

posted on by Eric Stimson

What would it be like to attend your own funeral? It could be gratifying to hear praise and longing only to march triumphantly into the ceremony, as Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn did. Or it could be unnerving to witness everyone's grief and maybe find out what they really think about you, as Yūsuke discovered in Yū Yū Hakusho.

The main character in this commercial goes through both stages as he appears at his wake, at first expressing glee at seeing his own service and how many people showed up, but then becoming distraught over the depressing atmosphere and overhearing a rumor that he tried to kidnap a girl (he insists he was trying to save her). Then a mysterious man appears and offers to fix his life! Who is he? We'll find out in the sequels!

The commercial advertises Hero Must Die (Yūsha Shisu.), a video game set for release on February 25 for the PlayStation Vita. The hero dies after defeating the demon king, but is given five additional days to fix lingering problems in his life.
