posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Ganma! artists draw spinoffs this month before movie's Japan opening on July 28

Comic Smart's free manga website Ganma! revealed on Sunday that it is publishing four one-shot manga "episodes" collectively titled The Mummy - Dark Stories as a tie-in to The Mummy film starring Tom Cruise. The stories will be connected to the film's world, and will be set in London as it is suddenly engulfed by a sandstorm caused by Ahmanet, and the dead rise from beneath the earth. A secret organization surrounds Ahmanet.

All of the authors are serializing a manga in Ganma!

Asahi Tsukishita will draw the first manga, which debuts on July 15. Tsukishita is serializing the Tokyo Dragon Night manga on the website.

Yutori Houjyou and Kako Mochizuki will work on the second manga, which debuts on July 22. Houjyou and Mochizuki are serializing the Ningyō Tōge manga on the website. Yen Press previously released Houjyou's Higurashi When They Cry: Cotton Drifting Arc and Higurashi When They Cry: Eye Opening Arc manga in 2009 and 2011, respectively.

Azumi Mochizuki will draw the third manga, which debuts on July 23. Mochizuki is serializing the Hōfuku no Susume manga on the website. Mochizuki also drew the Tokyo Ravens: Red and White spinoff manga from 2012 to 2013.

Yūichi Bessho will draw the fourth manga, which debuts on July 29. Bessho is serializing the Meikyū Mansion manga on the website.

The movie opened in the United States on June 9. It will open in Japan on July 28 with the title The Mummy: Norowareta Sabaku no Ōjo (The Mummy: The Princess of the Cursed Desert).
