McDonald's Hits the Streets with Street Fighter Tag-Team

McDonald's Japan and the Street Fighter franchise announced a collaboration on Thursday with a poster featuring characters Ryu, Chun Li, Ken Masters, and M. Bison. The collaboration begins on October 22 with three collaboration hamburgers: the Kogashi Ninniku Mayo Tamago Teriyaki (charred garlic mayonnaise egg teriyaki), Yóulínjī Mayo Chicken (Chinese deep-fried chicken with mayonnaise), and the TriChee (triple cheeseburger).

The 30-second video above parodies a Street Fighter II- commercial with several Street Fighter characters fighting each other using McDonald's-themed attacks or participating in a McDonald's-themed challenge round. (The commercial is also available on the McDonald's Japan YouTube channel, but it is region locked to Japan.)

The McDonald's Japan YouTube channel also released three other Street Fighter collaboration videos. The first features Street Fighter characters Ryu and Akuma (appearing as Gouki Nalds) for the Kogashi Ninniku Mayo Tamago Teriyaki burger. The second features Chun Li and Guile (appearing as Smile Guile) for the Yóulínjī Mayo Chicken. The final video features Ken Masters and M. Bison (appearing as Vega Smile) for the Triple Cheeseburger.

The Street Fighter and McDonald's collaboration will also feature a Double Sausage Muffin, McFizz Minagiru Energy (Overflowing Energy), McFloat Minagiru Energy, and Shaka Shaka Potato Yamitsuki Consommé Seasoning (McShaker addictive consommé seasoning). The McFizz and McFloat come in collaboration cups featuring Street Fighter characters Ryu and Ken performing their iconic Hadōken maneuvers.

The series' latest game Street Fighter 6 launched in June 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. CAPCOM released the game on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, the console's release date. The Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition version also launched on June 5.
