Kodansha Opens Manga Academy to Support Global Manga Creators
posted on by Ken Iikura-Gross
Japanese publisher Kodansha announced the opening of its Kodansha Manga Academy website on Tuesday. The publisher designed the website as a guide to help global manga creators learn the process of publishing manga in Japan.

The website currently hosts comments from manga creators Makoto Yukimura (Vinland Saga), Peach-Pit (Shugo Chara!), Hajime Isayama (Attack on Titan), and Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura (Blue Lock), as well as a cursory explanation on how to become a manga creator in Japan and a “case study” of Spanish manga creator Juan Albarrán. Albarran is currently serializing a manga series about his journey to publishing manga in Japan.
The Kodansha Manga Academy website also announced a global manga award set for early 2026. Details regarding the award are limited, but the website notes that the award is "an open call for the next generation of storytellers."
