Yakuza 6's Live-Action Shorts Show Characters Years After Meeting Kiryu

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Sega of America began streaming three live-action shorts for the Yakuza 6: The Song of Life PlayStation 4 game on Thursday. Each video focuses on one character whose life changed thanks to Kazuma Kiryu, the Dragon of Dojima.

Substories from the Yakuza series inspired the shorts, with "The Bouncer" and "Prodigal Son" from Yakuza Kiwami and "Another Haruka" from Yakuza 5. The videos show the characters several years after they first met Kiryu. Christopher Ewing directed the shorts, and they were shot in Tokyo and produced in collaboration with Liquid Advertising.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will ship in the WEST. on April 17, after a delay from the original March 20 release date. A demo for the game debuted through the PlayStation Store on February 27. However, Sega removed the demo due to some players being able to access the full game from within it.

The game is the first mainline release in the franchise that will keep the subtitle in the English title of the game. The game shipped in Japan on the PS4 in December 2016.
