Den-noh Coil Book Publishes Anime's Never-Before-Seen Production Materials

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Advance sales of the Den-noh Coil Archives book of materials from the Den-noh Coil anime will be available at Comic Market 94 (Comiket). The Anime Style booth will sell the book at the event, which is being held at Tokyo Big Sight from August 10-12.

Original manga creator Mitsuo Iso directed the anime that premiered in 2007 and won an Excellence Prize in the animation division of the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Japan Media Arts Festival the same year. The series also won the Nihon SF Taishō Award in 2008.

The new book will include anime production materials such as early designs, character and prop designs for each episode, art designs, image boards, and other materials. The 368-page book will reveal some materials for the first time. The book will also have color pages of previously released official illustrations.

The book costs 3,240 yen (about US$29), and people who purchase the book in advance at Comiket 94 will receive a set of two mini fancy paper boards signed by Iso and the anime's chief animation director Toshiyuki Inoue. Anime Style Online Shop will begin regular sales of the book in September and offer the same bonus items.
