Viz Media announced at its panel at Anime Expo on Thursday that it has licensed the second part of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga series, Battle Tendency, and Aya Kanno's Requiem of the Rose King (Bara-Ō no Sōretsu).
The company will release the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood, the first part of the series, digitally in September and in print in February 2015. The print release will be a deluxe edition with color pages and new cover art. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency, will premiere digitally in March.
In addition, Viz will release its 2005 editions of the third part, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, digitally beginning on July 4, with new volumes every week.
Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency inspired the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime series in 2012. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the Stardust Crusaders anime as it airs in Japan.
Kanno (Otomen) launched Requiem of the Rose King in Akita Shoten's Monthly Princess magazine last November and the first compiled volume shipped on March 14.
The manga's dark fantasy story adapts Shakespeare's Richard III. The story takes place during the Wars of the Roses — sporadic wars fought for the throne of England between 1455 and 1485. The story centers on the unfortunate fate of a man born with an intersexed body, Richard III.
Viz also announced that it would release omnibus editions of Yu-Gi-Oh! by Kazuki Takahashi and Gyo by Junji Ito.
