Tales of Berseria's New Video Reveals 2016 Date, New Character

Azumi Asakura voices boy who supports Velvet; evolved Linear Motion Battle System featured

Bandai Namco Mirai Kenkyūsho presented the second promotional video for its Tales of Berseria role-playing game during the "Tales of Series IP Lineup" unveiling on Tuesday. The video reveals the 2016 launch date and a new character.

In addition to the previously revealed heroine named Velvet who fights with a beast-like left arm, the video features a boy named Raifisetto who supports Velvet. Minoru Iwamoto designed the blonde boy, and Azumi Asakura voices him. Whereas Velvet represents "shadow," he represents "light."

The theme of the game is emotion and reason, and it will feature an evolved version of the franchise's familiar Linear Motion Battle System with free run-based character control, free camera movement in battle, and the four actions buttons that can be custom-set for each individual player's desired artes.

The upcoming Tales of Berseria PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 role-playing game will be the first in the Tales of franchise to feature only a heroine as the protagonist (as opposed to Tales of Xillia, which featured a man and a woman as dual protagonists). Franchise mainstay Mutsumi Inomata designed the heroine Velvet, and Rina Satō voices her. Kousuke Fujishima will also return to the franchise as a designer for the game. Animation studio ufotable will animate the game's cutscenes.
