Saijō no Meii Live-Action TV Series Gets Special Episode in February

TV Tokyo announced on Monday that it will air a special episode for the live-action adaptation of Takashi Hashiguchi and Kenzō Irie's Saijō no Meii (The Best Skilled Surgeon) manga in February. The episode's story will feature the show's protagonist Mikoto Saijō returning to Japan after five years in America, and working at a general hospital again. Takumi Saitou will reprise his role as Mikoto Saijō. The full cast of the episode includes:

Yusuke Kamiji as Masayasu Miyoshi

Nao Minamisawa as Shiori Misaki

Eiichiro Funakoshi as Chikage Hōjō

Manabu Asō is directing the episode, while Koji Endo is composing the episode's music.

The 10-episode live-action series premiered in 2011. Hashiguchi (Yakitate!! Japan) launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in December 2007, and ended the series in 2010. He launched a sequel manga titled Saijō no Meii ~The King of NEET~ in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 2010, and ended it in 2014.
