Fairy Tail's Unaired 'Fairy Penalty Game' Anime Previewed in Video

Girls wear maid & Playboy bunny outfits as punishment for losing game in May 17 DVD

Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine posted a promotional video for the original animation DVD that is bundled with Hiro Mashima's 55th Fairy Tail manga volume on Tuesday. The DVD adapts the "Yōsei-tachi no Batsu Game" (Fairy Penalty Game), a one-shot manga spinoff that ran in the August 2013 issue of Kodansha's Magazine Special.

Wendy: What's going to happen to us...?
Text: In the jungle... Turmoil!?
Text: Erza in a maid outfit!
Mirajane: It's the situation in which a maid is being punished by her master.
Text: Lucy is a bunny girl!?
Lucy: Please don't tell me I'm going to have to do this all day!
Text: Wendy ends up dressing up in...!?
Kanna: OK, try wearing this.
Wendy: No! Not this!
Text: The winners are in heaven; the losers are in hell
Laxus: Well then, the real party's just about to get started...
Text: How will the the fairies' punishment games conclude?
Lucy: No!!!

In the story set after the Grand Magic Games, the Fairy Tail members split into two teams and play a Japanese game, where the losers must undergo punishment as the penalty. For example, the video teases that Erza has to don a maid outfit, Lucy has to wear a Playboy-style bunny outfit, and Wendy has to wear "that outfit."

The main manga follows the adventures of world's most notorious mage guild, Fairy Tail. It already inspired two television anime, several previous original video anime projects, and spinoff manga. The franchise's first anime film, Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess, opened in Japan on August 18, 2012, and Mashima announced a second film last May.

The May 17 manga/anime bundle has the first of three new original anime DVDs. The second original anime DVD, bundled with the 56th manga volume on July 15, will adapt the "Natsu vs. Mavis" story. This story centers on Mavis, who is feeling downcast. The guild members, starting with Natsu and Erza, try to make her feel better.

The third original anime DVD will adapt the "Yōsei-tachi no Christmas" (Fairy Christmas) story about the companions gathering at Lucy's home to hold a Christmas party. It will ship with the 58th manga volume on November 17.

Del Rey published the first 12 volumes of the original manga in North America, and Kodansha resumed publishing the manga in English with the 13th volume in 2011. Crunchyroll streams the ongoing television anime into several countries as it airs in Japan, and Funimation has been releasing DVD/Blu-ray sets.

Update: Typo fixed. Thanks, BlackPoint.
