2-week beta test launches on December 11

Game developer Akira Nishitani (NIN) revealed the title of ARIKA's "Mysterious Fighting Game" for the PlayStation 4 as Fighting EX Layer on the official PlayStation Blog on Wednesday. Nishitani also revealed that a beta test for the game will launch on December 11 and run for two weeks.

The characters Kairi, Garuda, Skullomania, Darun Mister, Allen Snider, and Shirase will be available in the beta test. In addition, the game will have a demo at Sony's PlayStation Experience event, which will be held at Anaheim Convention Center in California from December 9-10.

Nishitani also commented on the Gougi system in the upcoming game. He hopes the system will change the flow of matches and create different ways to play depending on Gougi. Nishitani said that he wants to continue adding Gougi to the game to change the game environment.

The game is slated for simultaneous release in North America, Europe, and Japan in 2018.

Previously announced characters include Kairi, Shirase/Hokuto, Garuda, Skullomania, Darun Mister, and Allen Snider. All the characters have previously appeared in Street Fighter EX games.

The game will be the newest installment in ARIKA's EX series, which previously included the Street Fighter EX games.

ARIKA revealed the game with a video on April 1 as an "April Fool's Day" joke.
