Pachinko and slot machine store Island announced on Monday that its "Cochin Pa!" anime television commercial series will get a television anime titled Devidol that will premiere on Tokyo MX on October 4, and will also stream on the d Anime Store streaming service. Each episode will be 15 minutes long.
Suzuko Mimori replaces Pile as the voice for the character Aira (center in image above). Yuka Iguchi and Kana Hanazawa will reprise their roles from the commercials as Shima (right) and Hana (left), respectively. Ryo Fukawa voices the character Rocket-sensei.
The anime's story centers around three demons who are living in the human world: Aira, Shima, and Hana. While they work hard and make friends at school, they pursue their dream of being an idol. However, because none of them know how to be an idol, they keep trying and straying from their goal. Guided by the kind but sometimes strict lecture of Rocket-sensei, they strive to become idols.
Sōta Sugahara (gdgd Fairies season 2) is returning from the commercials to direct the anime, and is also credited for the original work and scripts alongside Masataka P. Masataka P is also credited for planning and as the producer. Kazuyuki Osabe (gdgd Fairies season 2) is also credited for the scripts. Lat designed the characters. Taketeru Sunamori (SunaP/Mirai Kodai Gakudan) is performing the opening theme song, and Fukawa is performing the ending theme song.
The project began with the character Aira, the mascot character of Island. The character received a series of 15-second anime commercials alongside original characters in 2014, and a second season of the commercials in 2015.
