Sugar Apple Fairy Tale Fantasy Novels Get Anime

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Miri Mikawa's story of girl trying to become master candy artisan

The official Twitter account for Kadokawa's Beans Bunko light novel label announced on Friday that Miri Mikawa and aki's Sugar Apple Fairy Tale light novel series is inspiring an anime adaptation. The announcement did not reveal any further details on the project.

The fantasy novels are set in the Kingdom of Highland, where fairies serve humans, and center on a girl named Anne. Anne's mother recently passed away, so Anne decides to carry on the family trade and become a Silver Sugar Master, a special artisan who can create magical candy. With her foul-mouthed fairy bodyguard Charles, she sets out on a journey to the capital.

Writer Mikawa and artist aki launched the novels in April 2010, and ended with the 17th volume in February 2015. Alto Yukimura published a two volume manga adaptation of the novels in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume Online website from 2013 to 2014.

J-Novel Club is also releasing Mikawa's Culinary Chronicles of the Court Flower (Ikka Kōkyū Ryōrichō) light novels in English.
