Summer Wars Will Have 4K Screenings in U.K. and Irish Cinemas on August 3 and 5

Mamoru Hosoda's film Wolf Children will follow in UK cinemas on August 17 and 19

A 4K edition of Mamoru Hosoda's 2009 film Summer Wars will be screened in UK and Irish cinemas on Sunday August 3 and Tuesday August 5. The film is being reissued by Anime Limited, and screening and venue details are at https://www.worldofhosoda.com/.

Funimation previously described Summer Wars:

"Kenji is your typical teenage misfit. He's good at math, bad with girls, and spends most of his time hanging out in the all-powerful, online community known as OZ. His second life is the only life he has - until the girl of his dreams, Natsuki, hijacks him for a starring role as a fake fiance at her family reunion. Things only get stranger from there. A late-night email containing a cryptic mathematic riddle leads to the unleashing of a rogue AI intent on using the virtual word of OZ to destroy the real world, literally. As Armageddon looms on the horizon, Kenji and his new "family" set aside their differences and band together to save the worlds they inhabit."

Hosoda and Madhouse Studios' original movie opened in Japan in July 2009.

There will also be U.K screenings of 4K edition of Hosoda's Wolf Children on August 17 and 19.

Additionally, Summer Wars, Wolf Children and Hosoda's The Girl Who Leapt Through Time will be released as Collector's Edition Blu-ray + 4K UHD Blu-rays at a future date. The films will also released across digital EST platforms.
