posted on by Wonhee Cho

HYBE, the Korean entertainment company best known as the agency behind global supergroup BTS, announced that its original webtoon series SUMMER MOON: THE QUPRIDS, inspired by the musical themes of K-pop girl group ILLIT, premiered on August 4 via Naver Webtoon.
The series debuted with six episodes available simultaneously, and will have weekly releases every Tuesday on the platform.
SUMMER MOON is a coming-of-age school fantasy series that follows five ordinary high school girls — Yeoreum, Miso, Ah-yeong, Gayoon, and Unha — who unexpectedly transform into “magical girls” ahead of their school's largest summer festival. The story starts as a lighthearted teen romance and will gradually evolve as the girls face emotional challenges and magical threats, ultimately learning that "true magic lies in embracing one's authentic self."
Currently, an English version of the webtoon is not confirmed.
