Yuuichi is drawn to her despite her unreasonable behavior. But when Rika confides in Yuuichi about her illness, he understands the reason for her willfulness: Rika doesn't have long to live.
Keitai Shoujo begins with Hiro Aida, an ordinary high school student with no girlfriend. Then one autumn day, he downloads a screensaver for his mobile phone. Suddenly, with a bright flash of light, his phone transforms into a little girl. The girl Rin proclaims, "If you don't find a girlfriend by Christmas, I will return to my world forever, and your mobile phone will disappear."
