I was wondering if there could be an easier way to make note of titles that had their license expire either for home release or streaming instead of reporting them. I believe it would be useful for new or old fans who are unaware of what is currently out of print/no longer available on streaming sites. It would be easier than looking at the encyclopedia page's English companies list where a company like Funimation is credited, going to the site where the title is in hopes of watching/buying it, and then finding out that the company no longer has it.
Here is an example of what I am referring to:
What do you think? |

I like the idea of using that as a precision, but wouldn't it have to replace the existing entry, not just add on?

In the US, it would generally just be adding, so not a problem (automatically replaces the precision-less entry.) Foreign territories should already have a precision, and some people have added the starting year of a license period, so they would still need to be reported.

No, even if a credit has a precision, you can still add other identical credits with different precisions, and they are all displayed as one credit with merged precisions. |

Really? When I tried doing that before turning to making a forum post about it I was getting an error about adding duplicates. I'd be more than happy to add precisions for licenses/streams expiring yet it won't let me. |

There's a warning, but you can still click "Add anyway"

That's because you posted it and need to be able to edit it. If you log out (or use incognito mode or another browser) and take a look, it will be different.

I just took a look, and I see both entries as well.

Same here. I would still see them even when I am logged out. |

That must be a quirk of the company page (or of when the formatting gets reversed like that.) The credit is folding-up correctly when viewed from the series' pages.

Thanks for doing that, I've now started to add the "Expired" precision to various shows that X company no longer has the license to. Definitely a useful feature I'm going to take plenty of advantage of.
Question, how should I handle license rescue situations? Here's how I handled say 009-1.
Also, any idea what went wrong here when trying to add the "Expire" precision for Bandai Entertainment on Code Geass? This is the only time I've come across this error so far, not sure if it affects other entries with Bandai Entertainment marked as the licensor. http://i.imgur.com/NwG5eM0.png |

I'n not sure what happened there; there are two Licensed By entries and I set one to False myself, but it shouldn't be possible to have two of the same without a precision so I'm thinking something has been merged.
Aha, Archive.org to the rescue; someone had entered "Licensed by: Bandai Books" with reference to a dead TRSI link, presumably for one of the related manga. |
