Crunchyroll to Stream Ace of Diamond Baseball Anime

Adaptation of Yūji Terajima's manga to premiere in Japan on October 6

Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream the anime adaptation of Yūji Terajima's Ace of Diamond baseball manga. The company will stream the series on Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. EDT starting on October 5. The series will be available for premium users worldwide outside of Japan, and free users in the following regions: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Central and South America, Spain, Brazil, and Portugal.

The story of the original manga follows eijun Sawamura (Ryota Ohsaka), a pitcher who joins an elite school with a brilliant catcher named Kazuya Miyuki (Takahiro Sakurai). Together with the rest of the team, they strive for Japan's storied Kōshien championships through hard work and determination. The anime will also star Hiro Shimono as Norifumi Kawakami, Hiroki Touchi as Tesshin Kataoka, Masakazu Morita as Kōchirō Tanba, Nobuyuki Hiyama as Kyokuni Azuma, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Shinji Kanemaru, Yumi Uchiyama as Rei Takashima.

Madhouse and Production I.G are producing the series. Mitsuyuki Masuhara (Blade, Kobato.) is directing, and Takeshi Konuta (Library War, Blood Lad) is handling the series composition. Tom-H@ck (K-ON! opening theme composer) and Masayoshi Ōnishi will perform the anime's opening theme song, "Go EXCEED!!"

The anime will premiere in Japan on October 6.

Terajima launched the manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2006, and Kodansha is publishing the 37th volume this month. The manga won the shōnen category of the 34th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2010.
