posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Sequel opens in Japan on August 7

This year's 28th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing the full anime character designs for Naruto (pictured left) and Sasuke (pictured right) from the Boruto -Naruto the Movie- film on Monday.

The magazine is also revealing two background setting sheets for two locations in Konoha Village from the film: a convenience store and a hamburger shop.

The 27th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump previously revealed the full character designs for Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki.

Yūko Sanpei is playing Boruto (pictured top left in image below) and Kokoro Kikuchi is playing Sarada (pictured top right). Junko Takeuchi is returning to play Naruto Uzumaki, and Noriaki Sugiyama is returning to play Sasuke Uchiha.

Original Naruto manga creator Masashi Kishimoto is credited with the original story, script, and character designs, as well as the chief production supervisor, for the film. Hiroyuki Yamashita (Naruto Shippūden episode director, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie animation director) is directing the film, and Ukyō Kodachi (Chaos Dragon, Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road) is collaborating with Kishimoto on the script.

Weekly Shonen Jump describes the story of the new film as follows (Note: the below summary contains spoilers for those who have not finished reading the manga):

Boruto is the son of the 7th Hokage Naruto who completely rejects his father. Behind this, he has feelings of wanting to surpass Naruto, who is respected as a hero. He ends up meeting his father's friend Sasuke, and requests to become... his apprentice!? The curtain rises on the story of the new generation written by Masashi Kishimoto!

Kenji Taira (Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden, Uchiha Sasuke no Sharingan Den) will also draw a collaboration comedy manga in Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine on August 1.

The film will open in Japanese theaters on August 7, and tickets will go on sale on June 27. Theatergoers will be able to choose one of two fans designed by Masashi Kishimoto as a special gift. The "Uzumaki Version" will feature Naruto and Boruto and the "Uchiha Version" will feature Sasuke and Sarada. The fans are limited to 100 thousand units.
