The Muse India YouTube channel began streaming the television anime adaptation of Kazuya Minekura's Saiyuki Reload Blast manga on Friday.

Muse Asia describes the anime:

Humans and yokai, science and magic... all exist side-by-side on a peaceful continent free of all order and regulation, widely known as "Shangri-La." The balance there was shattered when the Minus Wave caused all the yokai on the continent to rampage, an event known as the "Calamity." Continuing their journey west to stop Gyumaoh's resurrection experiments, the root of all the evil on the continent, the Three Aspects are finally drawing closer to India. But the closer they get, the more pronounced the influence of the Calamity becomes, and the more intense their battles become.

The anime premiered in Japan in July 2017 and had 12 episodes. Muse Asia streamed the anime in India in November 2020.

The anime is the first Saiyuki anime that Pierrot did not animate. Platinum Vision (Servamp) animated the project. Hideaki Nakano directed the anime, with Kenji Konuta (Library War, Ace of Diamond, Blood Lad) supervising the scripts. Both have worked together in the same positions on the Aoharu x Machinegun and Servamp anime. Youko Satou (Dog & Scissors) handled the character designs. GRANRODEO performed the opening theme song "move on! Ibara Michi" (move on! Thorny Road), and Luck Life performed the ending theme song "Refrain."

The original Saiyuki manga inspired a 1999 OVA and a 2000 television anime adaptation, as well as a sequel film and OVA. Saiyuki Reload inspired two anime adaptations and a prequel OVA. The Saiyuki Gaiden prequel manga inspired an OVA adaptation in 2011. The franchise has also inspired a long-running series of stage plays and musicals.
