.hack//ENEMY TCG Wins Origins Award

.hack//ENEMY TCG WINS PRESTIGIOUS ORIGINS 2004 AWARD

“Anime Wars of 2003” End With Decipher Receiving Industry Nod

(Norfolk, VA—June 29, 2004) — During a ceremony at the 2004 Origins Game Fair in Columbus, OH, Decipher's .hack//ENEMY Trading Card Game received the Origins Award For Best Trading Card Game of 2003. "Decipher is thrilled by and appreciative of this industry honor," said Warren Holland, Chairman & CEO of Decipher, Inc. "The Origins Awards represent the best in the gaming industry and we're always delighted to be recognized for the hard work and dedication our entire staff puts into each product we release."

First released in October, 2003, .hack//ENEMY TCG entered a market that was already crowded with many other anime-based trading card game properties. Confident that this game was different, Decipher pushed forward with creative marketing plans including two nation-wide tours to visit retail shops, an innovative tournament system which invited players to "Level Up!" for great prizes and powerful promo cards, and aggressive advertising.

".hack//ENEMY TCG is different from any of the other anime-based games that were released in 2003," said Chuck Kallenbach, Decipher Senior Game Designer for .hack//ENEMY TCG. "The .hack anime is much more sophisticated than the other properties. The trick was staying true to the property while making a game that was fun and challenging to play. I think the Origins Award proves that we hit the right balance."

.hack//ENEMY TCG is based on the popular .hack multi-media property from Bandai. The card game uses imagery and situations from the anime television program that is currently airing on Cartoon Network as well as four .hack video games for the PlayStation®2 video game system. The gameplay involves two players sending monsters to battle their opponent's player characters in a virtual environment known as "The World".

Decipher has become an industry leader in the trading card game industry, with high quality licensed product releases over the years such as the Star Wars Customizable Card Game, the decade-long running STAR TREK Customizable Card Game, 2001 Origins Award Winner for Best Trading Card Game The Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game, and the new Megaman Trading Card Game which released June 2004. Decipher also produces the STAR TREK Roleplaying Game and The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game which won the Origins Award for Best RPG in 2002. In October 2004, Decipher will release its first proprietary game, The Mumon Rift Wars TCG.
