Vocalist Mika Kobayashi And Composer Raj Ramayya Collaborate On Theme Sing For Video Game The Initial

Japanese singer-songwriter performs song for video game now available on Steam

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, USA – July 20th, 2017 - Music production company Strawberry Hill Music is pleased to announce that Japanese singer-songwriter Mika Kobayashi performs as vocalist on the song “Escape the Machine” for the video game THE INITIAL, released by Restory Studio. Composed and written by Indo-Canadian musician Raj Ramayya, the song serves as the theme song of the game. The video game is now available for download on the Steam digital gaming platform for PC, Windows & Linux, and the game's soundtrack which includes “Escape the Machine” is available for free as downloadable content.

For the vocal recording session, Kobayashi was flown out from Tokyo, Japan to work with Ramayya at Strawberry Hill Studios, a recording studio based in Novato, CA and owned by music production company Strawberry Hill Music. An international team of musicians assisted Kobayashi and Ramayya in bringing the composition to life; Brazilian composer Theo Nogueira co-composed the piece with Ramayya, Chinese producer Bo Song served as guitarist, Russian musician Daria Kondrakina provided orchestral arrangements, and Malaysian recording engineer Falk Au Yeong handled the final mix.

Developed by a small five-man development team, THE INITIAL is a hyper action game about schoolgirls battling against evil. The game takes place in a special area called SPE, with a school for students gifted with ESP powers. Every student of the school is skilled in battle, and an evil organization wants to create an artificial girl who has the ultimate power. They have secretly collected combat data and are close to achieving their goal. It's up to two students of the school, Ruri and Erika, to stop them.

ABOUT MIKA KOBAYASHI: Born in Hiroshima prefecture, pianist and vocalist Mika Kobayashi found her love for music early when she began playing the piano when she was five years old. When she was twenty-two, she won the Grand Prix vocal auditions that had more than a thousand participants. Her consistent work since that moment would later lead to her releasing her first album with much excitement.

Mika has become highly valued as a vocalist, and eventually met composer Hiroyuki Sawano, through which she became one of his recurring collaborators. Together they have worked on songs for popular anime such as Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, Guilty Crown, Blue Exorcist, and others. She is also a special guest performer with the sword performance troupe KAMUI, founded by Kill Bill swordfight choreographer Tetsuro Shimaguchi, providing musical accompaniment.
