Monstrous: The Kaiju Issue, a special issue of James Aquilone's Monstrous Books black-and-white comic book anthology magazine, is commemorating classic giant monsters for Godzilla's 70th anniversary. The issue's Kickstarter campaign launched on September 9, and it has already surpassed its US$1,954 goal. The issue will include an article about Godzilla by Patrick Macias (The Essential Anime Guide), the aforementioned history of kaiju by Samuel Sattin (Unico: Awakening), a new kaiju design by manga creator Itaru Kinoishita (Dinosaur Sanctuary), the new short story "The Colossus From the Crater" by Greg Cox (Godzilla 2014 novelization), a new Konga vs. Gorgo comic by James Aquilone and Dave Swartz, and more. There will be three different covers: Konga vs. Gorgo by Larry Tuason, MegaSquatch by EV Cantada and Zac Atkinson, and Godzilla:
The kaiju issue will be a full-size 8.5x11-inch release, as compared to the magazine's normal smaller digest size.
As of press time, the magazine has raised US$14,655. The campaign runs until September 30.
