Pass the Monster Meat, MiLady! Premiere Leaves Fans Savoring For More
by Jeremy Tauber,
Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! premiered the first half of its initial episode at Otakon as a sneak peek for fans hungry for more food anime. Covering the first forty-two pages of the manga made for a succinct 10 minutes of anime. Our leads, Melphiera and her romantic interest, Blood-Mad Duke Galbraith, are introduced after a monster intrudes on their afternoon party. While we haven't quite seen how these two will vibe together yet, there's still enough chemistry to keep our interest. I also liked the use of red, yellow, and orange colors here; it gives the anime a very earthy, autumnal look that's rather appealing.
Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!'s premiere was accompanied by a Q&A featuring the manga's author Chika Mizube, Melphiera's voice actress Kanna Nakamura, and producer Junichirō Tanaka. It started with some technical glitches, some blue screens coming from the computer equipment delayed the episode's premiere and the live drawing for a bit, and the onstage mics kept unnecessarily screeching. The panel was able to pull through nevertheless, and while the live drawing wasn't finished by the time things wrapped up, a finished version would later surface on Twitter.

Food would be brought up during the Q&A, with Nakamura saying that the eats of D.C. were the things she was most looking forward to. Meanwhile, Tanaka talked about his love for eating mouthwatering venison, which then spurred discussion on how Teddy Roosevelt used to eat game, and how some Americans like to enjoy their own “monster meat” in the form of muskrat and alligators. Chika would get curious about eating other food similar to monster meat, and opened the floor up to recommendations. I couldn't resist. I had to put my two cents on the table. “Get the jumbo pizza slices,” I said. “They're monsters in and of themselves!”
Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! will premiere this October.
