New York ComicCon 2007
Yen Press

by Mikhail Koulikov,

Although not able to organize a panel, Yen Press, the new graphic novel imprint of the Hachette Book Group, was very much a presence at ComicCon. Yen's co-Publishing Director, Kurt Hassler (formerly the graphic novel buyer at Borders) participated in several other discussions and, in a separate interview with Publisher's Weekly, announced the five titles Yen will be publishing. They are:

Spiral - Suiri no Kizuna (the source manga for the hit anime released by Funimation. This has previously been announced as a Tokyopop license, but for various reasons, TP has not been able to publish the title.)
Zombie-Loan (the new manga by Peach-Pit, the creators of DearS and Rozen Maiden)
Alice on Deadlines
Black God (manhwa).

All four were acquired from Square Enix. In addition, Yen has signed Tokyopop's award-winning author and artist Svetlana Chmakova to create an original OEL manga, entitled Nightschool, and plans to develop a manga anthology magazine, to start publication in early 2008.

Additional details about Yen Press are available at the Publisher's Weekly site.
