Zelda Games Inspire Life-Size Paper Figure, Moving Cake

Smash Bros. Brawl Zelda stands 66 inches tall; Skyward Sword cake celebrates girl's 10th birthday

DeviantArt user minidelirium created a life-size papercraft figure of The Legend of Zelda video game series' title character. Princess Zelda's character design from the Super Smash Bros. Brawl video game inspired the figure's template. The paper princess is 170 centimeters (about 66 inches) tall, and minidelirium completed the project in 226 hours. The life-size figure was given away to a woman for free.

Will Turnbow and his wife also made a moving cake inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword video game for their daughter's tenth birthday. The couple shaped the main buildings from six batches of Rice Krispies Treats, nine cakes, Styrofoam, and fondant. The cake features moving characters and scenery with backdrops based on the game's Skyloft, Sealed Grounds, and Faron Woods areas. Turnbow's wife sculpted most of the characters from clay and painted them.

According to Turnbow, his daughter began playing The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword as her first The Legend of Zelda game and said it was "the best Zelda ever made." However, the girl has since started playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and "exclaimed that it is better than the Skyward Sword."

Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Nintendo GameCube and Wii consoles in 2006. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword shipped for the Wii in November 2011.
