Tricked Out Gundam Model Auctions for $9,250

posted on by Bamboo Dong

When Bandai's Master Grade 1/100 RX-93 Nu Gundam Ver.Ka came out, it retailed for about 7,350 yen ($75). Make a few mods here and there, though, and give it a painstakingly detailed paint job, and it might be worth a lot more.

That was certainly true of this recent Yahoo! Japan auction that ended at a hearty 926,001 yen (or $9,261 at current exchange rates). The listing was for a fully customized, painted, and completed Gunpla.

For photos of some of the mods made and a close-up of the paint job, check out the seller's Gunpla gallery and blog.

The model was just shy of the record for the highest value fetched for a finished Gunpla, which auctioned for 1.3 million yen.
