JAPIC Offering 2 Month Stay in Tokyo for International Animators

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Japan Image Council (JAPIC) is accepting applications for its A-AIR Tokyo 2015 (Animation Artists in Residence Tokyo 2015) program. Three lucky artists from around the world will get to stay in Tokyo for 70 days between January 7 and March 17, 2015.

Winners will have their travel expenses and rental accommodations paid while receiving a living allowance and expert assistance. Winners will also have the opportunity to work with Japanese creators and present their work. The three selected candidates will travel to Japanese animation studios while working on a project to be completed by the end of their stay.

To be considered, applicants must have had one of their works screened at an international film festival, exhibition or similar event, where works from countries other than their own were also screened, be between the ages of 20-35, be able to speak English or Japanese at a conversational level, and have access to a computer with Skype abilities.

Applications must be submitted by September 10 for consideration with final selection scheduled for November.
