Even FF14 Director Naoki Yoshida Gets His Own Magic the Gathering Card (Sort of)
posted on by Ken Iikura-Gross

With Wizards of the Coast's nonstop previews for its upcoming Magic: The Gathering (MTG) Final Fantasy collaboration set, fans couldn't help but notice one iconic character getting his own card — no, not Cloud, not Yuna, and not even Sephiroth. As Japanese Final Fantasy fan YouTuber FF no Koto notes after reviewing the casting cost and effects for the Wandering Minstrel card, the Final Fantasy XIV non-playable character is famously based on the game's director, Naoki Yoshida.
Wizards of the Coast announced the MTG and Final Fantasy collaboration in October 2022. In early May 2025 Wizards of the Coast previewed several cards during the Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Debut Showcase at PAX East. The set will launch on June 13.
