Creators who contributed manga are Nicomi Wakadori, Kata Konayama, Meishi Murakami, Kinako Warabimochi, Sunao Kasuga, Yū Mitsuki, Shin Nishimi, Rasuko Ookuma, Tatsuya Kamoto, Yuimal, Ayuka, and Aki Konishi.

Artist LLO (Unbreakable Machine-Doll, Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru) provided the cover illustration. The cover endpaper features four-panel manga by Boyano and Satori Kōnosu, and the inner covers feature manga by Kanari Abe.

Tokumi launched the Slow Start manga in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara magazine in 2013, and Houbunsha published the fifth compiled book volume on January 26. The anime adaptation of Tokumi's original manga premiered on January 7, and Aniplex of America is streaming the series on Crunchyroll.

The story centers around 16-year-old Hana Ichinose, who unbeknownst to her classmates, was a year late in enrolling into high school. Although it may not seem like a big deal, it is a big deal to her. She wants to catch up with everyone else someday.
