The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Takeru Hokazono's Kagurabachi manga announced on Wednesday that the manga will take a one week break due to production reasons, and it will not appear in this year's 48th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on October 27. The manga will return in the 49th issue, which will ship on November 4.

The manga took an unplanned one-week break in June due to Hokazono's "sudden illness."

Hokazono debuted the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023. Shueisha published the ninth compiled book volume on October 3. The manga topped 2.2 million copies in circulation as of May 2.

Viz Media's Shonen Jump and Shueisha's MANGA Plus are releasing the manga digitally in English. MANGA Plus describes the story:

Young Chihiro spends his days training under his famous swordsmith father. One day he hopes to become a great sword-maker himself. The goofy father and the serious son--they thought these days would last forever. But suddenly, tragedy strikes. A dark day soaked in blood. Chihiro and his blade now live only for revenge. Epic sword battle action!

The manga topped the print category in the Next Manga Awards 2024. The series was nominated for this year's Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards.

Toyo Keizai Online, the website tied to the finance magazine Weekly Toyo Keizai, reported in December the manga will get an anime adaptation at Cygames Pictures, through a joint production by CyberAgent and Shochiku. Toyo Keizai reached out to the two companies, and CyberAgent stated "there is nothing we can say," while Shochiku stated that it will "refrain from responding to inquiries regarding individual works."
