Live-Action One Piece Job Search Ad Finds the Perfect Cast

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
We're especially taken with Tony Tony Chopper

Eiichiro Oda's ultra-popular Manga ONE Piece previously inspired live-action stage play adaptations, including Kabuki versions, and an upcoming American live-action series. Yet, none of those versions were brave enough to cast an actual reindeer as Chōpper.

The job search engine Indeed paired up with One Piece for a commercial that premiered on December 31. The ad stars the Straw Hat Pirates as they sing a little sea shanty about the site while staring out at the stormy sea.

The ad stars model Takumi Saitōh as Luffy, actor Hiroyuki Ikeuchi as Zoro, model Rika Izumi as Nami, Daigo of the comedy duo Chidori as Usopp, and actor Yōsuke Kubozuka as Sanji.

The Indeed website is featuring the crew with more information about the characters' preferred jobs and listings to work with them. For instance, Chōpper is looking for an assistant to recreate the Hiriluk's cherry blossoms in Tokyo as they appeared in episode 86 of the anime series. The listing goes on to say that it'll take a lot of manpower to make cherry blossoms bloom in the winter time but that the "Jolly Roger flag can make the impossible, possible."

Besides, how could you say no to that face?

The listing is for a volunteer to work one day between February 14-17. Oddly, there's no information designating the listing as a joke, so maybe something really will happen?

The other pirates are also looking for assistants. Nami is seeking a suitable navigator to predict the weather in Jamaica's capital city of Kingston for a week in March and Sanji needs a cooking assistant to help come up with new recipes. Some of the job listings include pay. Sanji's cooking assistant will earn 32,000 yen per day (US$292) and Nami's navigator will get to go to Jamaica.
